Here at SASS Global Travel, we’re deep in the snowsports industry… shredding is what we live, breathe, and work for 24/7. Nonetheless, when it comes time to do our annual dance in Argentina and the crews start rolling in, it’s good to take a moment to pause and reflect over all the big names (and rad people) we’ve had the pleasure of having here at SASS this summer: Pat Moore, Marc Frank Montoya, Torah Bright, Michelle Parker, Mark Abma, Jussi Oksanen, Mikey Rencz, Jeremy Jones, Chanelle Sladics, Jamie Anderson, Dean "Blotto" Gray, Kjersti Buaas, Shayne Pospisil, Chris Coulter, Garrett Russell, Austin Smith, Natalie Gogh, Vera Janssen, Bryan Fox, Johnny Paxson, Robin Van Gyn… the list goes on.
But everyone seems to be here for the same reasons…

Here’s to living life in the presence of greatness.
Thanks to our new partnership with Contour HD, the SASS crew has been able to document the full POV experience of crushing lines in Bariloche, Argentina. These little HD cams are sick, super simple to use, and help us give you a better idea of how hard we crush it every summer. Be sure to check out a few of Head Counselor Lucas Moore’s lines through the Palmero trees (click the image below), keep your eyes peeled for some Contour HD edits popping up soon from shred legends Chris Coulter and Skylar Holgate, and to Contour’s Video Community for more banger shots from the SASS crew as we finish up our last session in Argentina.
Be sure to pick up a Contour HD this fall so the Facebook homies will know how sick your weekends are all winter long!
South America Snow Sessions had the great pleasure of hosting Mary Fenton this August, part of ESPN’s Action Sports team of talented writers of all things rad. Mary crushed lines, photos, and meat while she was down here and had a short but rippin time with the SASS crew. Mary & co. have found quite a few stories coming out of our little corner of the shred universe….

South America Snow Sessions is Mary Fenton-approved.
First, check out Nate Deschenes’ interview with SASS Head Guide Skylar Holgate here…

More media coming out of the SASS camp. I figured I would give Dunfee a break from looking at all the photos to do this version of the SASS photo post. He has been drinking way too much mate lately, and I am pretty sure I saw photos of him rooting around in the Rock Chicken dumpster looking for plastic bottles the other day for the green houses. A man that dedicated deserves a break.
Ben Giradi has been out on the hill crushing it as the SASS photog. I had my trusty point and shoot along side me as well for almost all of my days on the hill. Check out some of the bangers from the past few weeks.

As the saying goes, "that’s it, that’s all." Three and a half feet on Monday… Six feet at the top of Cerro Catedral as of yesterday afternoon… 55 inches in the past 12 hours. Our cabs were barely able to make it out of the mountain after the Cindy Santini/ Marc B./ One Life concert at Mute last night, which was a rad show. There’s so much snow the mountain had to shut down today, so a group is out right now setting jibs at an abandoned hotel down the road. With the One Life, 17 female shreds from Roxy, a A+ group from Burton including Jeremy Jones and legend Jussi Oksanen (Blotto’s been keeping track, too, another group now arriving from Dakine, and more making their way down to SASS in September, we’re now stocked with some of the best talent in the snowsports industry…

And when all this snow lets up, we have a beautiful weekend to enjoy it with. With spots still available in September, you still have a chance to be a part of the SASS experience – good people, the best pro homies, and snow that falls from the sky until all you can do is cry.

SASS coach Chris Coulter has been leading the charge on a lot of the backcountry missions the clients at SASS have been taking, including the recent couloir assault from the Emilio Frey hut. Coulter’s been keeping pretty good track of what’s been going on here in Bariloche and you can get a pretty good idea of how heavy your experience at SASS can be. Coulter and the guides can take you as deep and as steep as you want to go. Click on the image below to check out his story on the Session 2 missions!
The good folks over at Transworld Snowboarding caught onto the word that anyone who comes down for the adults-only VIP Session from September 4th-12th is going to have a chance to win a $2500 2011 gear kit from our sponsors, setting you up with brand new gear from head to toe for the 2011 slay mission. SASS client and Jackson Hole ripper Cam Fitzpatrick has been slaying it at SASS, and had one of the best sessions of his life on the Condor hip jump, landing his first double right to his feet (catch him on the slay mission in the Session 2 podcast). After that epic session, media intern Conor Ahearn caught up with Cam to see how he’s enjoying his time down in Bariloche. Kid slayed it so hard, he had to stay for another session! Way to go, Cam.

SASS full-timer Ryan Dunfee, stuck at the base of the mountain with a broken ankle after a failed June mission to complete 12 months of skiing in a row, has become increasingly bitter as the snow keeps falling down here in Bariloche, standing at the door of the Hosteria Valle del Sol on his crutches while the rest of the skiers walk by with their pow skis, ready to shred. He’s taken a bit of a break from his standard bitching on skiing’s BroBomb.com to unleash his injury-fueled fury on the Powder Magazine audience through an online editorial series called "Argentinean Angst." Part III just came up on the Powder website, with OG SASS client and Freeski World Tour athlete Emma Lande landing the header photo slaying a backcountry line during the Frey hut trip Dunfee talks about.
